Hole KA-04, sample 20 @ 268m depth.

Example of a gassy sample – hundreds of small gas bubbles are observed rapidly desorping and fizzing from the recently hoisted, coal rich sample. The same gas desorption occurs in carbon rich mudstones (Carbonaceous Mudstones) in the area.

Such samples are quickly sealed in cannisters and then immersed in a water bath at our field lab; and over 60-90 days gas desorption volumes are measured. Our desorption process adheres to standard industry practice and is independently verified by Gustavson & Associates.
