Coal Bed Methane in South Africa

Kinetiko Energy Limited (ASX: KKO) is an Australian-based company focused on advanced coal bed methane (CBM) opportunities in the Republic of South Africa and Southern Africa. Our flagship "Amersfoort Project" is located in one of the most prospective areas for CBM, with well-documented gassy-coal measures in Mpumalanga (formerly Eastern Transvaal) – east of Johannesburg.

The Amersfoort Project in August 2012 received an upgrade from indpendant certifiers: Prospective resource estimates of Gas in Place 2.4tcf (up from 1.7tcf in June 2011) and Contingent Resources of 1.5tcf (up from 1.1tcf in 2011). Exploration (including pilot production wells) continues. Kinetiko is maintaining its early mover advantage in the region and is pursuing new gas projects that will help supply clean energy to satisfy very strong domestic demand, and create jobs.
